
READY Operations Assistant
Temporary, Full-Time
Reports to: Landscape Foreman
Job Overview:
A READY Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting successful implementation of stormwater management and landscaping projects including conservation landscapes, rain gardens, and more. The Operations Assistant will work alongside the Landscape Foreman to coordinate and implement work plans for each day. They will also support ensuring that READY crew members and leaders have and use the skills and training necessary to complete their assignments correctly, safely, and in a timely manner. The Operations Assistant is responsible for maintaining inventory of materials and supplies, and supporting the transportation of said materials to and from job sites.
Responsibilities & Duties:

Assist with onboarding and training of READY program participants

Plan, execute, and assess day to day activities of the crew to ensure adherence to project schedule

Coordinate availability and transport of materials, plants, and supplies to job sites and organize resources during project life cycles

Verify and pull materials / supplies needed for day to day implementation of projects

Pick up of materials, plants, and supplies from vendors as needed

Support training of crew members and oversight on project implementation, ensuring crews perform their tasks in a skillful, safe, and timely fashion

Read and interpret work plans, landscape designs, and planting plans to ensure crews are performing the work accordingly

Oversee clean-up of job sites and proper disposal and storage of materials

Communicate daily field progress and/or problems to Landscape Foreman

Ensure maintenance and upkeep of EcoWorks’ tools, equipment, and storage spaces

Assist in construction and maintenance as needed

Qualifications & Requirements:
-
Must be at least 21 years of age
-
Must be a Howard County Resident
-
Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
-
Must be able to drive personal vehicle daily, with mileage reimbursement
-
Strong leadership, communications, and process improvement skills
-
Must be dependable
-
Experience in landscaping or environmental field work, particularly construction and maintenance
-
Ability to work in a variety of outdoor settings including forests and streams
-
Ability to operate a truck with a utility trailer
-
Able to stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds repetitively throughout a day
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Prior experience with READY or UpLift programs
-
Passion and/or interest in the outdoors
-
Flexible with changes in day to day tasks

Wage: $19/hr
Benefits:

Paid sick leave - 1 hour of Sick and Safe Leave accumulated for every 30 hours worked, accumulating up to 40 hours per year. Accrual starts on the first day of employment and one is eligible to use Sick and Safe Leave after the completion of 30 days of employment

Job Timeline:
Start Date: 6/9/25
End Date: 8/15/25
This is a full-time, hourly, seasonal position. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including a half-hour unpaid lunch break and 2 paid 15-minute breaks per day. There are no paid holidays, however, July 4th will be observed. Weekend work opportunities may become available but are not mandatory. Work in the field is weather-dependent, which may result in shortened work weeks in the event of extreme weather. Indoor training and professional development opportunities may be offered on bad-weather days, when possible.
